- Pre-Cast Concrete Sheds -

Tiglin Garden Products offer the highest quality pre-cast concrete buildings available in Ireland today. Our concrete buildings are ideal as storage solutions, hobby houses, an extra bedroom, or for a home office. With the addition of an up and over roller door, our concrete buildings are transformed into the perfect garage at a fraction of the cost that would normally be involved with building such a structure.

All of our concrete products are manufactured to exacting standards and are guaranteed to exceed current EU quality control regulations. The pre-cast sections of our concrete buildings bolt together to form the walls of the building without mortar, vastly reducing the time and labour needed for construction when compared to standard, block buildings. In fact, construction of a Tiglin Concrete building onto a prepared base requires only 2 days!

Exterior Finish:

Tiglin's concrete buildings are avaiable in either plain or pebble dashed finish. Pebble dashing is available in a range of colours:

White Pebble Dashing

Black & White Pebble Dashing

Brown & White Pebble Dashing

Brown/Fawn Pebble Dashing

Plain Concrete

For that added touch, Tiglin can fully plaster coat the exterior of any of our concrete buildings. Plaster coating effectively disguises the visible joints between our concrete panels, giving the building all the appearance of a standard, block built structure. A range of coloured dyes (yellow, red or charcoal grey) can alter the appearance of this plaster finish to better match in with the surroundings or other, pre-existant buildings.

Small details can make a big difference! Whether it be chamfered, faux quoin stones on the corners, an overhang or awning to the front of your building, or elegant recessed downlighters above the door, Tiglin can provide you with that little extra touch to set your building off to a tee.

Tiglin pre-cast buildings are comprised of pre-cast concrete panels, manufactured to all current EN standards and bolted together with synthetic foam tape sealant (Adofoam) to ensure an effective weather barrier. Concrete panels are cast in a variety of sizes, 6ft approx (1850mm) or 7ft approx (2100mm) in height and 1ft, 18", 2ft (300mm, 450mm or 600mm) in width. Options are available for adding insulation and/or dry lining to any of our concrete buildings, turning a shed or garage into a cozy workshop, warm home office or even an extra bedroom for when guests come to visit. Full electrical and plumbing services can be arranged if needed, subject to availability on site. Exterior Cladding:

Both the gable ends and the external wall plates of our pre-cast concrete buildings are finished in durable, weatherproof PVC soffit cladding. This cladding provides an attractive finish to our buildings while at the same time making the exterior finish totally maintenance free. Customers who so desire can opt to have their building gables finished in pressure treated timber, which will be weather resistant for up to 7 years.

Doors & Windows:

Tiglin pre-cast buildings are fitted, as standard, with a single entry, tongued and grooved, pressure treated timber door, located on the gable end of the building. Customers may, if they wish, opt to include a uPVC door instead for added security and asthetic appeal. Our uPVC doors are of the highest quality and incorporate a full, four point locking mechanism, identical to the door of a modern house. Standard uPVC doors are available in a choice of colours, white, brown or black and include a fully double glazed upper panel to allow light into the building. Solid doors, with no glass panels, may be ordered if desired.

For those who require better access to their building, Tiglin offer fully double glazed patio style french doors with full glass panels to allow a maximum of light into your building. For those who are looking for a full garage entrance, we can offer spring assisted roller doors, available with either 8ft or 12 ft openings (approx) and in our full range of colours, white, brown or black.

All Tiglin Pre-Cast Concrete Buildings require a solid concrete base on which to be erected. This base both supports the weight of the building and its contents and provides a stable floor within the building itself.

Owing to the efficiency of their design, Tiglin Pre-Cast buildings weigh far less than block built buildings of similar size while retaining every bit as much strength. For this reason, Tiglin buildings do not require a full foundation on which to be erected. All that we require for our buildings is what is known as a solid raft (or slab) of concrete, approximately 4 inches thick. For economical reasons, this raft is poured directly onto the existing surface. Doing so vastly reduces the construction cost as it removes the need to excavate the foundation area, reducing labour and the potential expense of hiring excavation equipment. Laying the base as we do also reduces waste and mess and removes the need to dispose of large quantities of soil and other debris.

Site Preparation:

Tiglin normally requires that the site for any pre-cast building be clear, flat and level prior to our arrival, with all obstacles removed (eg, tree stumps, bushes, large stones, mounds or depressions in the ground). Unless otherwise stated, prices for tiglin buildings do not include any site preparation work. Such work, if needed, will incur a surcharge to offset any additional labour costs.

Laying the Base: (click to view)

The procedure for laying our base is as follows:

  1. Once the site has been chosen, the perimeter of the base is marked out and a temporary, disposable timber screed is erected to help shape the base.

  2. Within the timber screed, a layer of 1000 gauge polythene is laid as an aid to preventing rising dampness within the concrete.

  3. 100mm (4inches) of 25N concrete is poured incrimentally so as to ensure no air pockets remain trapped within the base. This concrete is then skim-levelled on top where the walls will stand.

  4. Once the base has been poured, it is left to set for a period of up to one full day, depending on the prevailing conditions, before building work commences again.

  5. Once the building has been completed, Tiglin will install a second layer of 1000 gauge polythene inside the building as a further aid to prevent dampness rising through the base. Onto this polythene, we will pour a second skim floor of concrete, approx 40mm thick. This second skim of concrete both seals the building and provides a sturdy, level floor surface for you to walk on.

Guidelines for Customer Supplied Base: (click to view)

Ideally, Tiglin would prefer to supply the base for any of our pre-cast buildings as we are more familiar with the process and the tolerances that are involved in erecting our buildings, however, customers can, if they wish, opt to provide their own base. In that event, customers should be aware of the following guidelines, which apply to all buildings, regardless of size.

  • The base must be one solid slab or raft of concrete, which is no less than 100mm (4 inches) thick at its thinnest point. This must take into account any irregularity or slope on the ground underneath the base, as shown in the diagram below.

  • The overall size of tbe base must be at least 300mm (1 foot) longer and 300mm (1 foot) wider than the final building will be. This is to accomodate positioning of the concrete panels on the base and to ensure the necessary clearance for construction.

  • The base must be of sufficient strength to support the building. Tiglin uses 25N concrete in all our bases and we require that customers at least match this level. Note, all warranties will be void in the event of subsidence of a customer supplied base.

  • The base must be perfectly flat and level on top. Our concrete panels come with pre-drilled bolt holes, by which they are fastened together. Irregularities or slopes in the base will mean that these bolt holes will not line up correctly, possibly preventing construction. The diagram below illustrates this.

  • Reinforcement, such as steel mesh, within the concrete base is not always required, but can be added if desired. For larger buildings, or buidings in which heavy machinery will operate, Tiglin reccommends that customers include steel mesh reinforcement to aid in the stability of the building over time.

Tiglin Pre-Cast Concrete Buildings use and apex or A-shape roof, which has a single outer skin layer supported by a timber framework. Roof pitch is normally approximately 30 degrees, but can be varied to suit the needs of a particular project.

Standard roofing on all our pre-cast buildings is comprised of Onduline roof sheeting. Onduline is a natural fibrous material which is woven together and then bitumen sealed and pressed into a corrugated shape to assist in drainage of rainwater. Onduline is tough and durable and carries a manufacturer backed warranty of 15 years*.

Metal Tile Effect:

Tile Effect metal roof sheeting is available as an optional upgrade on any Tiglin Pre-Cast Concrete building. Each metal roof sheet is formed from 0.7mm steel with weatherproof PVC coating on the outside. The sheets are hydraulically pressed into a shape which resembles the classic Nordman profile tile. Tile effect roofing is both asthetically pleasing and very durable, offering up to 20 years maintenance free protection from the elements

Whether you opt for an Onduline or a Tile Effect Metal roof, Tiglin will install a layer of non-drip breathable membrane underneath the outer roof sheeting as an aid to prevent condensation from causing dampness within the building

Roof Structure:

Tiglin rooves are supported by an open-truss timber structure which provides for maximum strenght with minimal intrusion into the internal space of the building. Trusses are constructed from pressure treated timbers, 100-150mm wide, depending on the size of the building in question. Trusses are spaced at 600mm centers to ensure that the weight of the roof is distributed evenly, with no sagging or weak points. Horizontal 100x44mm timber runners provide additional support for the roof structure, as well as ensuring that the outer roof skin remains rigid and free from deformity throughout the lifespan of the building.

Gable ends of all of our buildings are finished in 22mm plywood with an outer weatherproof cladding of 12mm PVC soffit sheeting.

* Tiglin does not manufacture any of our roofing products. All manufacturers guarantees are passed on by Tiglin to our customers without alteration or additional liability on Tiglin's behalf.
